Reading out of poverty (ROOP) is a non-profit organisation based in Melbourne which offers free literacy support and resources to young children from low socio-economic backgrounds, promoting early literacy skills and fostering a love for reading. They provide programs and multilingual books to ensure every child has access to the joy of reading and the tools to excel in learning and life.
ROOP will travel to Bendigo to provide agencies with free educational packs, pop-up libraries and/or reading aloud sessions to give to children accessing those services. The books are new books ROOP has published and/or second-hand books.
Target population
Agencies working with families with young children aged 0 to 5.
Eligibility criteria
Families with young children from low socio-economic backgrounds, including migrants, refugees, and Indigenous Australians.
