Child & Family Services – Disability Support

Service Provided

Complex Disability Support

This program’s objectives include:

Helping prevent children with a disability requiring care outside the family home due to their disability support needs.
Helping parents navigate the NDIS and advocating for plans that contain parenting and disability supports that will help maintain the sustainability of care or support family reunification.
Supporting the continuation of the relationship between children and their families when they are in care.
Supporting the return of children to family or into non-residential care arrangements, including providing ongoing support.

Family Services Specialist Disability Program

This service supports families with NDIS access and participation, assisting families to navigate systems of disability support, including the NDIS, disability advocates, disability service providers and mainstream services.

Eligibility Criteria

Complex Disability Support-

Families must meet the following criteria:

Have a child or children with a disability in a voluntary care arrangement due to their complex disability support needs, or
Have a child or children with complex disability support needs, that may require a care arrangement outside the family home without additional and intensive supports,
Have a child or children that are participants in NDIS or be eligible for a NDIS plan.

Family Services Specialist Disability Program

Families eligible for another AV Child & Family service and have a child or parent/carer with a physical, cognitive, psychosocial, or sensory disability can access this service.
